Nigeria commemorates General Soleimani martyrdom anniv

Tehran, IRNA – Shia Muslims in Nigeria held rallies to commemorate the third anniversary of the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and to protest against the criminal act of the US.

According to Nigerian media, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria rallies were held in Abuja.

The participants carried placards with pictures of martyrs Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis.

They set the US flag on fire to protest against its criminal assassination.

Earlier, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi said Martyr Soleimani broke US grandeur in the world, President Raisi said, adding that the arrogant powers seek to eliminate the nation’s identity and look forward to depleting young people from identity and injecting their own identity.

Raisi stated that Martyr Soleimani was both an identity-building element and a revivalist of Islamic identity in the region.

Addressing the US and the enemies of the Islamic Revolution, President Raisi underlined that just like General Soleimani who created Resistance in the region, today, the Iranian youth will stand against arrogant powers until the end.

US terrorists assassinated General Soleimani, the commander of the Qods Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, the former commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), along with their companions by targeting their vehicles outside Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020, at the direct order from then US President Donald Trump.
